Blackstone-Millville Regional School District Warrant for Special District-Wide Meeting
August 8, 2018 To be held at the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School Auditorium at 7:00 pm Greetings: All inhabitants of the Towns of Blackstone and Millville qualified to vote in Town Affairs shall meet in the auditorium of the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 7:00 pm then and there to act upon the article of the Warrant. Overflow seating will be available in the High School Cafeteria which will also allow for qualified voter participation as necessary. Article 1. To see if voters present will vote to approve the re-certified school budget of $22,623,707; to assess the amount of $8,562,533 to the Town of Blackstone which includes $6,317,741 for minimum contribution, $1,347,481 in exclusionary costs, and $897,311 in supplemental investments; and to assess the amount of $2,919,338 to the Town of Millville which includes $2,074,258 in minimum contribution, $507,276 in exclusionary costs, and $337,804 in supplemental investments. Warrant for BMRSD District Wide Meeting |
The BMRSD School Committee has called for a District-Wide Community Meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 7:00 PM at the BMR High School Auditorium. Registered voters from both towns will approve the budget or amend the number on the floor to a greater or lesser amount. A simple majority is required for approval.
In a regional school district comprised of two members, if the revised budget is not approved by both members, the regional school committee shall again reconsider, amend, and adopt a revised budget and shall convene a district-wide meeting, at which the revised budget shall be placed before all voters eligible to vote at said meeting. If a majority of voters at this district-wide meeting votes to approve the revised budget, such vote shall constitute approval. If a majority of voters at this meeting votes to approve a greater or lesser amount for the budget, such amount shall be placed before the regional school committee for its ratification. If the regional school committee by a two-thirds vote ratifies this amount, it shall constitute approval. If the regional school committee rejects such greater or lesser amount, it shall again reconsider, amend, and adopt a revised budget and shall reconvene a district-wide meeting pursuant to the provisions of 603 CMR 41.05(3)(f)."
